Please read the FAQs below for renewal guidance for Adams County residents, retired law enforcement officers, and individuals who originally obtained permits from other Colorado counties.
Required Documentation
Please provide ORIGINAL documents:
- Completed but unsigned application
- Current concealed handgun permit
- Your current Colorado driver’s license or Identification Card (ID)*
- Any additional documents that reflect name changes, etc.
- DD214 or proof of military service for a discount
- Renewal fee (See Fees section on this page)
- Refresher class original training certificate
*If your current address is not reflected on your Colorado Driver’s License or ID, documentation (e.g., utility bill) is required to prove your residency in the county.
Renewal Fees
We accept cash, checks, money orders, and credit/debit cards (additional processing fee charged). Please make checks and money orders payable to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office or ACSO.
Current Permit: Prior to expiration, $63.00 (The earliest you may renew is 120 days prior to the expiration).
Expired Permit: If your permit has expired but is within 180 calendar days after expiration, $78.00
Military Discount: $25.00 off renewal permit fee.
Appointment Information
All renewing applicants must schedule an in-person appointment—walk-ins are not accepted.
Renewing applicants may choose from the following time slots:
- Morning Sessions:
- 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM
- 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM
- Afternoon Sessions:
- 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
- 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM
Applicants may arrive at any time within their selected session window.

Yes. You may renew through Adams County if you currently reside in the county. Submit proof of residency and follow the same steps as a standard renewal.
Permits that are less than 180 days expired can still be renewed. If more than 180 days have passed, a new permit application is required.
