Suspect of Thursday morning Homicide Arrested; Charges Filed

Alex Martinez was arrested at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday at his place of work in Commerce City

BRIGHTON, Colo. (Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025) – 37-year-old Alex Anthony Martinez was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025, at 3:15 p.m. at his place of employment in Commerce City. A warrant for Martinez was issued in connection with a homicide that took place earlier that morning at the Chaparral Village mobile home park off E. 88th Avenue and Welby Rd.

At about 3:45 a.m. on Thursday morning, a 911 call was placed, indicating that a male had suffered a gunshot wound. Officers with the Thornton Police Department were dispatched and quickly realized that this area was under the jurisdiction of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. ACSO Deputies were dispatched to the scene, where they discovered that the male had suffered a gunshot wound and had died from his injuries.

ACSO Detectives presented the case to the Adams County District Attorney’s Office. The District Attorney’s Office filed one count of First-Degree Murder (F1) and one count of Tampering with Physical Evidence (F6). Case number 2025CR2469 was filed in Adams County District Court. Martinez’s next court appearance is on September 3, 2025, at 8:30 a.m.

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed offense(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
