The saturation totaled 389 Stops, 295 Citations, 16 Vehicles Impounded, and 13 Arrests
BRIGHTON, Colo. (Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025) – On August 27, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Brighton Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, Thornton Police Department, Westminster Police Department and ADCOM, conducted a multi-agency traffic enforcement operation targeting expired license plates and fraudulent temporary tags on the roadways.
“At the Sheriff’s Office, we appreciate the support and hard work of our partner agencies,” said Sheriff Gene Claps. “Together with Brighton Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, Thornton Police, Westminster Police Departments, and ADCOM we worked to provide a higher level of community and traffic safety.”
During the 12-hour operation, law enforcement officers conducted a total of 389 traffic stops. As a result, 295 traffic tickets were issued, 16 vehicles were impounded, and 13 arrests were made across all participating jurisdictions.
In Adams County alone, deputies conducted 160 traffic stops, resulting in 105 citations, 4 vehicle impounds, and 5 arrests. These arrests included 1 for driving under the influence (DUI) and 1 for driving under the influence of drugs (DUID).
“This operation is just the starting point in addressing a broader problem—many individuals we encountered were driving without valid licenses, insurance, or registered vehicles,” Sheriff Claps said. “Through efforts like this, we’re not only enforcing the law but also protecting our communities from unsafe drivers. The arrests made during this operation included warrant arrests, DUI, and driving under the influence of drugs—all in just one day.”
Additionally, during an Adams County traffic stop of a vehicle without a license plate, an ACSO deputy discovered a significant drug seizure. The following items were found:
· 153 grams of Ketamine
· 1.3 pounds of THC/Marijuana
· 1.75 pounds of dry Marijuana
· 2.27 grams of Cocaine
· An unknown quantity of Xanax
This seizure highlights the importance of these enforcement efforts in keeping harmful substances off the streets and ensuring public safety.
This collaborative operation underscores the commitment of all agencies involved to ensuring roadway safety and accountability. By addressing expired plates and fraudulent temporary tags, they are helping to reduce unsafe driving practices and strengthen trust within the community.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office thanks its partner agencies for their continued dedication and teamwork in keeping Colorado’s roadways safe.
