FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – June 6, 2025

Adams County, Colo. (June 6, 2025): At 5:11 a.m., deputies responded to 1440 Kokai Cir for a 911 call of a check well-being. When the deputies arrived, they encountered a 51-year-old male who threatened them with a knife. Deputies used verbal commands and multiple resources in attempts to disarm the male, but those were ineffective. Deputies ended up shooting the male, who was later pronounced deceased at an area hospital.

After the officer-involved shooting, deputies conducted a safety sweep of the residence where the initial 911 call originated and found two deceased adult victims inside the residence.

The scene is currently being processed for evidence, and investigators are conducting interviews.

The only injuries sustained from this incident were the fatal injuries to the victims in the residence and the suspect.

The identification and cause of death of the victims are pending investigation by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.

The 17th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is currently investigating the incident.

The deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure. After the investigation is completed, any changes to their status will be determined.

We thank our partners, the Westminster Police Department and Adams County Fire Rescue, for their assistance during this incident.
