In its 21st year of holding this event, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office hopes to feed over 1,000 families
BRIGHTON, Colo. (Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025) – The annual Operation Freebird event takes place on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mountain States Toyota, located at 201 W. 70th Ave, in unincorporated Adams County. This event brings together the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Mountain States Toyota, Waste Management and Food Bank of the Rockies to provide food boxes, turkey vouchers, health resources and more to the community.
This event helps thousands of Adams County residents every year. In 2024, more than 2,300 people attended the event. The community can line up before the event begins but gates will not open until 10 a.m. They will receive food boxes and turkey vouchers, one per household, while supplies last. There will be other resources available, including mental health services, dental screenings, flu shots and more.
At a time when many are facing food insecurities, this event provides all the food a family would need for Thanksgiving. There will be 1,000 turkey vouchers and over 1,300 food boxes given out. The food box includes a 5-pound bag of fresh produce and one each of canned corn, stuffing mix, canned green beans, cream of mushroom soup, cranberry sauce, gravy mix, corn muffin mix and canned fruit.
ASCO wants to thank our sponsors Food Bank of the Rockies, Mountain States Toyota, Waste Management, South Adams County Fire, BOK Financial, SunCor, Waste Connections, ENT Bank and CorrHealth.
ACSO is still trying to raise $5,000 to help cover the costs of the food. Donations for the event can be made to the Adams County Sheriff’s Employee Foundation via PayPal or by emailing the Community Connections Team at communityconnections@adamssheriffco.gov.
