Life-saving measures were attempted before the inmate was pronounced dead at a local hospital
BRIGHTON, Colo. (Friday, May 22, 2026) – On May 22, 2026, at approximately 12:30 a.m., an Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputy conducting cell checks was alerted to an unresponsive inmate in a cell. The inmate, a 28-year-old man, was unconscious and not breathing. The deputy removed him from the cell and administered Narcan.
Contract medical staff and Brighton Fire Rescue responded and continued life-saving measures. The man was transported to Platte Valley Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Adams County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s identity pending notification of next of kin. The coroner’s office will also determine the cause and manner of death.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division is investigating the incident.
